Where is the chimney company located?

The Chimney Company is in the town of Markham, Ontario. We are conveniently located within minutes of highways 407 & 404. We service all of the Greater Toronto Area.

What is W.E.T.T. Inc.?

W.E.T.T. Inc. is “Wood Energy Technology Transfer.”  It is a non-profit training and education association that promotes the safe and effective use of wood burning systems in Canada.

We just bought a house, should we have the fireplace inspected or cleaned?

Yes! A W.E.T.T Technician/Sweep that is also a licensed Chimney Repairman should inspect the complete wood burning system including the chimney at roof level. He will be able to properly advise you of any problems that he may have found and if a chimney cleaning is required. He would also be able to instruct the home owner the proper use of the damper and wood burning procedures.

How often should a chimney cleaning be done/

It would depend on how often the system is used. We do however recommend that it be inspected annually. We could then advise you of the condition it is in and check the masonry and brickwork of the firebox and chimney. Quite often a minor repair or suggestion can save the home owner a future costly expense.

How would I know if my chimney has a liner?

There are obvious ways to tell but to be absolutely sure and feel safe that it is in good working condition you should contact us for an inspection.

My damper is stuck and doesn't open properly, is this something I should attempt to fix myself or can you fix it?

Often the damper plate is off its track from improper use. It can easily be put back if you get a light and look carefully at how it is positioned. If you are not able to do this with certainty or the damper is in need of repair then call for a quote.
